Profesyonel Futbol Disiplin Kurulu (PFDK) tarafından tedbirli olarak sevk edilen Vedran Runje kendisini savundu, Beşiktaş da tedbirin kaldırılması için Futbol Federasyonu'na başvurdu.
Disiplin Kurulu'na gönderilecek savunma için çalışmalar yapan siyah - beyazlıların Hukuk Kurulu, Hırvat file bekçisini dinledi.Runje'nin, "Ben profesyonel bir kaleciyim. Kesinlikle taraftarlarla bu şekilde diyaloğa girmem. Ben maçtan sonra elimle iki işareti yaparak Cangele'nin bana iki kere tükürdüğünü anlatmaya çalıştım. Taraftara hakaret edecek herhangi bir yüz kızartıcı hareket yaptığımı hatırlamıyorum" dediği öğrenildi. Runje'nin moralinin oldukça bozuk olduğu ve PFDK'ye verilmesi nedeniyle, "Gerçekten çok üzgünüm. Böyle bir şeyi beklemiyordum" diye konuştuğu belirtildi.
